Manny Montana (Good Girls) has joined the cast of Marvel’s upcoming “Ironheart” series at Disney+. Montana is set as a series regular opposite Dominique Thorne. Details on Montana’s role are currently under wraps.
Not much is known about the new “Ironheart” series but the show will feature Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a genius inventor who creates the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man. Marvel’s Ironheart character follows Riri Williams, a 15-year old engineering genius attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Riri builds a suit based on Iron Man’s armor and takes up the name Ironheart. The character has appeared in some Marvel animated series including Spider-Man: Maximum Venom and Marvel Rising.
Thorne will be making her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever which has wrapped filming and will release in theaters this November.
Anthony Ramos (The Heights, Hamilton) is set for a key role in the series and could be the show’s villain and Lyric Ross (This Is Us) will play Williams’ best friend. Additionally, newcomer Harper Anthony has joined the cast in an unknown role.
Chinaka Hodge (Snowpiercer) will serve as head writer for the series. Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes will direct.
Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian and Chinaka Hodge will serve as executive producers alongside Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, and Zoie Nagelhout.
Filming on the series is currently underway in Chicago. A Disney+ release date has not been announced yet for “Ironheart.”
Montana starred on NBC’s Good Girls for four seasons and is on the current season of FX’s Mayans MC.
