Marvel’s ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ On Track For $175 Million Opening

Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” hits theaters on November 11, 2022 and early predictions are projecting the film to have one of the year’s biggest opening weekends.

The news comes from tracking service NRG which predicts the film is eyeing a $175 million opening.  If the figure is accurate, the film will have the second-best opening of 2022 after Disney/Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which debuted to $187.4M.

The original Black Panther opened to $202 million in 2018, ultimately grossing $700.4 million domestically and $1.3 billion globally.

In the film, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba) fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. Introducing Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of Talokan, the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena and Alex Livinalli.

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” directed by Ryan Coogler and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore, opens in theaters on November 11, 2022.
