Marvel’s ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Resumes Production, Original Stunt Coordinator Returning

Since its announcement in July 2022, ‘Daredevil: Born Again‘ has certainly had a rocky journey. The production faced numerous challenges, including strikes leading to shutdowns and a complete overhaul of the creative team.

According to reports, Marvel Studios reviewed existing footage of ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ which spanned multiple episodes and decided to pursue a new creative direction for the show.

Consequently, head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman left the series. Directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, known for their work on ‘Moon Knight’ and ‘Loki’ Season 2, are now set to direct all remaining episodes of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’s’ first season.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Resumes Production

“Daredevil: Born Again” has resumed production today, January 22, 2024.  Additionally, THR reports that Philip Silvera, who acted as stunt and fight coordinator on the Netflix version of Daredevil, has returned to the fold to act as stunt coordinator and second unit director for the new series.

What We Know About Daredevil: Born Again?

Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio are reprising their roles from the Netflix series as Daredevil/Matt Murdock and Kingpin/Wilson Fisk, respectively, and Jon Bernthal is back as the vigilante known as The Punisher/Frank Castle.

Sopranos prequel actor Michael Gandolfini (The Many Saints of Newark) has joined the cast of Born Again in a major role and Margarita Levieva (The Deuce) and Sandrine Holt (American Gigolo) have also boarded the series. Holt will reportedly play Vanessa Fisk, the wife of Wilson Fisk. Arty Froushan (Carnival Row) has been reportedly cast to play Harry, one of the main characters opposite Cox and D’Onofrio. Nikki M. James (The Book of Mormon) and Michael Gaston (Chicago P.D., Mayor of Kingstown) have also been cast in undisclosed roles.

Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll are now expected to reprise their roles as Foggy Nelson and Karen Page, respectively, in the upcoming series.

Season 1 will consist of 18 episodes.  It was recently reported that “Daredevil: Born Again” has been delayed and is now slated for a January 2025 release according to the US copyright registration.
