Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts’ Star Confirms Filming Has Started

Marvel Studios’ upcoming “Thunderbolts” film has received an exciting update.

The movie has reportedly started filming.  The news was shared by the film’s star Florence Pugh, who recently told Entertainment Tonight the following:

“I’ve just started my next movie, my next Marvel movie, Thunderbolts,” Pugh told Entertainment Tonight on Sunday. “I’ve been shooting that.”

While plot details are being kept under wraps, earlier drafts of the scripts suggest the film centers on villains and antiheroes going on a mission that was supposed to end with their deaths.

Cast previously announced for “Thunderbolts” includes David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, ​​Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S.Agent, Florence Pugh reprising her role as Yelena Belova and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.

Additionally, Geraldine Viswanathan has joined the cast and will step in for Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) who had to depart the project due to scheduling conflicts after the Hollywood Strikes.  It was also recently reported that Lewis Pullman (Top Gun: Maverick) will replace Steven Yeun in the film who also had to exit because of scheduling conflicts.

Harrison Ford is also expected to reprise his role as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross from Captain America: New World Order.

Marvel Studios recently hired Joanna Calo, the showrunner of the acclaimed FX series The Bear, to work on the script for “Thunderbolts.”

Jake Schreier will direct and Beef creator Lee Sung Jin has been recently added as a writer and will take over writing duties for Eric Pearson (Black Widow, Thor: Ragnarok) who wrote the first script for the film.  Lee and Schreier previously worked together on Beef which is now streaming on Netflix.  Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is producing.

“Thunderbolts” is set to release in theaters on May 2, 2025.
