Marvel Studios’ “Werewolf By Night” Halloween special for Disney+ will reportedly start production soon. The report comes from One Take News who says their sources have informed them that “Werewolf By Night” hit a small snag a while back and instead of a planned late February start, it’ll now begin filming sometime in mid-March . They also add that the shoot is planned to be 2-3 weeks long.
Like all Marvel projects, plot details are being kept under wraps however Gael Garcia Bernal is attached to play Jack Russell in the project. The series will also star Laura Donnelly (The Nevers); Deadline suggests she could play Nina Price / Vampire By Night, a vampire-werewolf hybrid who is Russell’s niece in the comics.
Jack Russell was the original version of Werewolf by Night who has the ability to turn into a werewolf without a full moon. Russell first appeared in the 1970s in an episode of Moon Knight so there has been some speculation the character could make his debut in Marvel’s upcoming Moon Knight series for Disney+.
A director still has not been announced for the project.
“Werewolf by Night” will be the second holiday MCU special in development for Disney+. A Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special written and directed by James Gunn is also expected to premiere later next year.
