Mary Elizabeth Winstead Joins ‘Ahsoka’ Disney+ Series

Mary Elizabeth Winstead has joined Disney+’s upcoming “Ahsoka” series.  Details on Winstead’s character are currently being kept under wraps.

Rosario Dawson will be reprising her role as Ahsoka in the limited series who we last saw in Season 2 of The Mandalorian. Reports have confirmed that Natasha Liu Bordizzo will portray Sabine Wren and Ivanna Sakhno will play a newly created character reportedly named Astrid. It was also recently announced that Hayden Christensen is set to reprise his role of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in the upcoming series.  How Christensen’s character will fit into the show remains to be seen since the events are set to take place 5 years after Return of the Jedi.

Insider Daniel Richtman previously revealed the following logline and synopsis for the series:

Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) is on the hunt for the evil Grand Admiral Thrawn in the hope it will help her locate the missing Ezra Bridger, the young Jedi that disappeared with Thrawn many years ago. Based on characters from the “Star Wars” franchise. A spinoff of the TV series “The Mandalorian.”

Rumors have suggested that Mena Massoud (Aladdin) had reportedly been cast to play Bridger and Lars Mikkelsen has been linked to the role of Thrawn however nothing has been confirmed so far.  The Clone Wars character Barriss Offee has also been rumored to appear in the series.

Winstead was most recently seen in Netflix’s revenge thriller Kate and the DC movie Birds of Prey. Her other film credits include co-starring opposite Will Smith in Gemini Man.

Dave Filoni is also attached to write the show and is exec producing with Jon Favreau.

Production on “Ahsoka” is slated to begin in March 2022 in Los Angeles and will reportedly continue until fall of 2022 which means that the series could be looking at a spring 2023 release on Disney+.
