Matt Hamilton, Paul Campbell & Cristina Rosato Join Disney+ ‘Turner & Hooch’ Cast

Deadline is reporting that Matt Hamilton (The Actress Diaries), Paul Campbell (Battlestar Galactica) and Cristina Rosato (Little Italy) will join the cast of the “Turner & Hooch” reboot set for Disney+.  All actors will have a recurring role in the series.

The TV series, which is based off the 1989 movie, centers around Scott Turner, who is a U.S. Marshal (he was a police detective in the film), and his slobbery dog. When the ambitious, buttoned-up U.S. marshal inherits a big unruly dog, he soon realizes the pet he didn’t want may be the partner he needs.

The series will star Josh Peck (Drake and Josh) as Scott Turner, Vanessa Lengies (Glee) as Erica, who is the chief trainer at the U.S. Marshal K-9 facility, Lyndsy Fonseca (Kick-Ass), who plays Laura, Scott Turner’s sister and the mother of 7-year-old Matthew, and Carra Patterson (Straight Outta Compton), Turner’s partner.

The series will also star Anthony Ruivivar (The Haunting of Hill House) as US Marshal Chief James Clark, Scott Turner’s boss, Brandon Jay McLaren (The Twilight Zone) as Xavier Watkins, a marine-turned US Marshal, Jeremy Maguire (Modern Family) as Matthew, Scott Turner’s nephew and Becca Tobin (Glee) will recur as Brooke, a federal prosecutor and Scott Turner’s ex-girlfriend.   Additionally, Five French Mastiffs will take turns playing Hooch.

According to Deadline, Hamilton plays Trent Havelock, Senior Deputy Marshal to Scott Turner (Peck). The only thing he loves more than chasing down bad guys is taking credit at the press conference afterwards. He gets all the fame, all the glory, and all the great cases—everything Scott thinks he wants. And he doesn’t much like dogs.

Campbell portrays Grady Garland, Laura Turner’s (Fonseca) ex-husband and Matthew’s (Maguire) father. He’s a well-meaning small-town cop who peaked in High School and at this point probably has more in common with his eight-year-old than his ex.

Rosato plays Olivia, Xavier Watkins’ (McLaren) fiancée. An Oakland cop from the Midwest. She’s warm, earnest, and enthusiastic, seemingly the complete opposite of her enigmatic soon-to-be husband.

The twelve-episode, hourlong series has already started production in Vancouver, Canada and is expected to wrap in early April 2021.

McG has signed up to direct the pilot episode of “Turner & Hooch” and will also serve as an executive producer on the series.  Matt Nix (Burn Notice) is writing and executive producing the series, with Josh Levy co-executive producing.  Jeff Cardoni will compose the score.

A release date has not been set for the new series, but you can currently stream the original “Turner & Hooch” film on Disney+.
