Michael Gandolfini Confirmed For Marvel’s ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Disney+ Series

Last July, during the Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, announced that “Daredevil: Born Again” an Original series starring Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, would be coming to Disney+ in Spring 2024.

Cox originally played Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the Marvel series on Netflix from 2015 to 2018.  He also appeared in the spinoff series, The Defenders. Most recently his character had a cameo appearance in Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk Attorney at Law.

Vincent D’Onofrio who played Wilson Fisk in the original “Daredevil” series just recently reprised his role as Kingpin, in the Disney+ series Hawkeye.  The two will also reprise their roles in the upcoming Echo series on Disney+ which is set to premiere in Summer of 2023.

Earlier today, we reported on a rumor that Sopranos prequel actor Michael Gandolfini (The Many Saints of Newark) had been cast in “Daredevil: Born Again” and now Deadline has confirmed that rumor. The outlet reports that Gandolfini “is set for a major role opposite Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio” and although character details are under wraps “it’s possible that he plays an ambitious guy from Staten Island referred to as Liam.”

The series will be written and executive produced by Covert Affairs creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord.

According to The Illuminerdi, Born Again will begin filming in New York City in February next year and continue through December.  It was previously revealed that the project will be filming under the working title “Out the Kitchen” under the production company Blind Faith Productions LLC.

Season 1 will consist of 18 episodes and will premiere on Disney+ in Spring 2024.
