Minnie Driver Joins 20th Century Studios Modern Take on ‘Romeo & Juliet’

Minnie Driver has reportedly been cast in 20th Century’s Romeo and Juliet reimagining “Rosaline.”  The actress will star alongside Kaitlyn Dever, Kyle Allen, Isabela Merced, Sean Teale and Bradley Whitford.

“Rosaline” is described as follows, In this modern twist on the classic tale of Romeo and Juliet, we see “the most famous love story ever told” through the eyes of Juliet’s cousin Rosaline, a sharp but idealistic young woman–who happens to be Romeo’s recent ex. What begins as an attempt to foil the famous romance and win back her guy, becomes a journey of self-discovery as she ultimately works to help get the star-crossed lovers back together.

According to Deadline, Driver is joining as The Nurse.

Karen Maine (Yes, God, Yes) will direct. Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen are producing via their 21 Laps banner.  Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber ((500) Days of Summer, The Fault in Our Stars) are writing the script.

Driver has starred in many films and television series including Good Will Hunting, Jojo Rabbit, Speechless, and Will & Grace.   She can next be seen in the second season of Amazon’s Modern Love and in Amazon’s upcoming adaptation of Cinderella.
