Movies Anywhere, the Disney-owned digital movie platform, is launching a new program that allows users to temporarily share their digital movies with family and friends. The new service, called Screen Pass, is currently in a beta test period which started yesterday.
Screen Pass will allow users to loan up to three movies per month to other account holders, just like letting your friends borrow a DVD.
Users will have seven days to accept the offer, which will give them access to the film for 14 days. Once started, recipients will have 72 hours to finish the film. Monthly limits will reset on the 1st of each month.
There are no limits as to how many times you can share a film or who you can share it to.
The beta testing period includes 6,000 films, which is about 80% of the Movies Anywhere list of available titles.
A wider beta test is planned for May, with a full launch planned for later this year.
