We finally got our first look at Ms Marvel’s full costume for her upcoming Disney+ series this week. In the official image, we can see what looks to be a new ability, encasing her hand in purple energy. We’re unsure precisely what changes have been made to her abilities and if she will remain an Inhuman.
Another detail about the series that we are yet to have confirmation on is its release date. Until now, the series was slated for “late 2021”, but with Hawkeye being given a confirmed November release, a 2021 release for Ms Marvel is looking less likely. A report by trusted television insider Matt Webb Mitovich from TVLine yesterday offered some potential news about the Kamala Kahn-led series:
“I asked around, and it is safe to assume at this point that Ms Marvel is now on track from an Early 2022 premiere.”
It’s uncertain at this point why the series faces a potential delay, but there is a chance that it requires more visual effects work, so it has been pushed back. But with little being known about the series, all we have at this point is assumptions.
There is, of course, a chance that there could be a surprise release; looking at the calendar and assuming the series runs for six weeks, theoretically, there is space for it to release it this year. If I were to guess, though, I’d say that the January 2022 slot that WandaVision had this year is the most likely bet. This shouldn’t affect any other Marvel shows slated for 2022, with the studio still keeping those dates close to its chest.
As always, we will keep you updated with further developments as and when they happen.
