Mystery Star Wars Disney+ Series Reportedly Starts Pre-Production

Last month,  Bespin Bulletin revealed that a secret Star Wars project with the codename “Grammar Rodeo” is seemingly preparing to start production sometime in June.  The project is said to be kid-focused and set during the “High Republic” era.  The High Republic era takes place two centuries before the events of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace when the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order are at their zenith.  So far, the High Republic stories have been told mostly through a series of novels and comic books published by Marvel Comics.

According to Cinelinx unlike their current/upcoming shows, however, the primary cast, and focus of the story, would be kids in the pre-teen to teenage range.  The show is being described as “Stranger Things in space.”

The Illuminerdi also reported new casting information about an upcoming secret Star Wars series that could be related to the mystery project.

DiscussingFilm also revealed that Jon Watts, fresh off directing Spider-Man: No Way Home, will reportedly direct at least one episode of this upcoming Star Wars series for Disney+. Watts might direct more episodes but will depend on how busy his schedule becomes with other projects.  It’s also being reported from “a handful of sources” that Jon Favreau will be executive producing.

Today, Bespin Bulletin is reporting that the series has already been in pre-production for a small number of weeks at a studio in Culver City, California where sets are being prepared ahead of the June start. The series is also due to film at Manhattan Beach Studios where The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, all filmed primarily for their respective series, and houses a volume.

Lucasfilm or Disney have yet to officially announce this project but it’s possible something could be revealed on May the 4th, or at Star Wars Celebration in late May.

Stay tuned to Disney Plus Informer for any updates to this story as they become available.
