Earlier this year, Bob Iger announced that a Toy Story sequel, aka ‘Toy Story 5,’ is in the works.
So far, very few details have been announced, but a day after the announcement was made, Tim Allen took to social media to tease Buzz & Woody’s return inToy Story 5. Allen, who voices Buzz, said on Twitter. “See ya soon Woody!”
TheDisInsider.com has shared some new rumors and details that they’ve heard about Toy Story 5.
The outlet states that the original characters, who parted ways with Woody and Bo Peep in Toy Story 4, are set to reunite for a new adventure. This aligns with expectations as the majority of the original cast is anticipated to reprise their roles.
Pixar CEO Pete Doctor provided some insight into the film’s direction in an interview with The Wrap, stating, “I think it’ll be surprising. It’s got some really cool stuff that you haven’t seen before.”
The outlet also disclosed that Andy will be featured as an adult, with his new family playing a role in the storyline.
While Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head are expected to return, it’s worth noting that the original voice actor for Mr. Potato Head, Don Rickles, passed away in 2017. Estelle Harris, who voiced Mrs. Potato Head, passed away in 2022. According to TheDisInsider.com, both characters will be recast for Toy Story 5.
Randy Newman is also anticipated to return as the film’s composer.
Although the release date for Toy Story 5 is not officially confirmed, it is projected for a June 2025 release. However, it’s certainly possible that will change with the ongoing Hollywood Strikes.
