FX has a new limited series in development titled “Under the Banner of Heaven” starring Andrew Garfield and Daisy Edgar Jones. The series which is created for FX on Hulu is based on Jon Krakauer’s Mormon crime drama of the same name. According to Variety, the series has landed Isabel Sandoval to direct an episode.
Inspired by the #1 New York Times bestseller Under the Banner of Heaven, a devout detective’s faith is tested as he investigates a brutal murder that seems to be connected to an esteemed Utah family’s spiral into LDS fundamentalism and their distrust in the government.
“Under the Banner of Heaven” will also star Sam Worthington, Denise Gough, Wyatt Russell, Billy Howle, Gil Birmingham, Adelaide Clemens, Rory Culkin, Seth Numrich, Chloe Pirrie, Sandra Seacat and Christopher Heyerdahl.
The show is created by Academy Award-winner Dustin Lance Black (Milk).
Sandoval is best known for her third feature “Lingua Franca,” which was the first film directed by and starring a trans woman of color to screen in competition at the Venice International Film Festival in 2019.
A release date for “Under the Banner of Heaven” has not been announced yet.
