Today November 12th, The Walt Disney Company hosts Disney+ Day, a global celebration that comes to life across all dimensions of the Company. Subscribers to Disney+ will be treated to new content releases across the service’s iconic brands, Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and Star in international markets, along with sneak peeks into what’s to come.
One of the treats Disney+ dropped today was a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series. You can view the exclusive look on Disney+.
“Obi-Wan Kenobi,” begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
Previously announced cast includes Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan and Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader. The series will also see the return of Joel Edgerton as Owen Lars and Bonnie Piesse as Beru Lars. Star Wars newcomers include Eternals‘ Kumail Nanjiani, Game of Thrones‘ Indira Varma and Rupert Friend. Rumors also suggest that Sung Kang could portray one of the Empire’s Inquisitors from the animated series Star Wars Rebels.
The series is executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor and writer Joby Harold. The casting director is Carmen Cuba.
The limited series will consist of six hour-long episodes and is expected to arrive on Disney+ in 2022.
