According to a recent report on the Marvelvision Podcast, Marvel Studios has spoken with Penn Badgley to star as Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic in Fantastic Four, which will premiere in theaters on November 8, 2024. Most recently, John Krasinski played a (now-deceased) Variant version of Richards in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
As always, since nothing has been confirmed by Marvel or Disney, we will treat this as a rumor for now.
Deadline recently confirmed that Matt Shakman (WandaVision) is in early talks to direct Marvel’s new “Fantastic Four” pic. If Shakman signs on, he will step in for Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts who left the project in April 2022.
Not much is known about the “Fantastic Four” reboot except characters Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (Human Torch) and Ben Grimm (The Thing) will return.
Moon Knight producers Grant Curtis and Nick Pepin will also serve as producers on the new “Fantastic Four” film.
It’s believed that Disney will announce the cast and director of the “Fantastic Four” reboot at the D23 Expo 2022 which takes place September 9-11 in Anaheim, California.
Marvel’s “Fantastic Four” hits theaters on November 8, 2024.
Badgley is perhaps best known for his role on Gossip Girl and Netflix’s You series.
