Ramón Rodríguez To Star Alongside Aubrey Plaza In ‘Olga Dies Dreaming’

Earlier this week, it was announced that Aubrey Plaza will reportedly star in Hulu’s new one-hour drama pilot “Olga Dies Dreaming.

The series is based on the yet-to-be-released novel by Xochitl Gonzalez and tells the story of a Nuyorican brother (Rodríguez) and sister (Plaza) from a gentrifying Sunset Park, Brooklyn, reckoning with the absent, politically radical mother and their glittering careers among New York City’s elite in the wake of Hurricane Maria.

Today, it has been revealed that Ramón Rodríguez (Gang Related) will play the male lead opposite of Plaza in the pilot.

Rodríguez’s character is named Prieto. He is Olga’s brother and a popular Congressman who is described as wearing his Puerto Rican pride like a badge of honor. He grew up playing a part: the cheerful, overachieving, involuntary patriarch of a broken home. He’s lonely and tired, but he wakes up every morning wholly prepared to be the fixer, continuing to present this facade to his constituents and his opponents alike.

Rodríguez’s TV credits include “The Wire,” the Netflix series “Iron Fist,” “The Defenders” and “The Affair.”  He has also appeared in many films including “The One and Only Ivan,” “Battle Los Angeles,” and “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.”

The series will be written by Gonzalez and will be directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon.  20th Television is the studio.  Both Rodríguez and Plaza also serve as producers on the pilot.
