Saint X, a new Hulu and Disney+ Original series, is a strong thriller that keeps its audience guessing until the very end through its well-crafted plot, impressive character development, and unexpected twists and turns.
The series “Saint X,” based on Alexis Schaitkin’s acclaimed 2020 novel, explores the aftermath of a suspicious death that occurred at Indigo Bay beach resort twenty years ago. The series features multiple timelines, but the primary focus is on the traumatic death that occurred at the resort and its impact on present-day New York.
In 2005, Alison Thomas, accompanied by her family, flew to the Caribbean resort to enjoy the sun, piña coladas, and flirt with boys.
Fast forward to the present day, and Claire, younger sister to Alison, is now going by the name Emily, and is attempting to move on from Alison’s death and the media frenzy that ensued.
Edwin and Gogo, two hotel employees, are the primary suspects in Alison’s death. However, the question remains: were they the true culprits? Was her death an accident, or was she murdered after all?
Schaitkin’s novel intentionally left questions unanswered and avoided offering closure. Instead, it aimed to explore how the characters moved on with their lives in the absence of certainty. However, in the Hulu adaptation of “Saint X,” writer, executive producer, and showrunner Leila Gerstein provides a more definitive answer. The show offers a unique perspective on the story that sets it apart from the original source material.
The series delves into the intersection of grief, obsession, race, class, and wealth, with a particular focus on how Alison’s death affects those involved in the mystery from opposite sides. The exploration of these themes provides a unique perspective on the story that sets it apart from other series.
The plot of Saint X is multi-layered and intricately detailed, with a complex story that is skillfully executed by the cast. The outstanding performances of the entire ensemble, particularly Alycia Debnam-Carey and West Duchovny, bring the characters to life in a unique and compelling way.
The series begins streaming on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ in Canada on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. Three episodes will premiere on April 26th with new episodes released weekly, with a total of eight episodes.
“Saint X” will begin streaming on Disney+ in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. All episodes will drop at once.
