Ryan Murphy Leaving Netflix and Reportedly In Talks To Return To Disney

Ryan Murphy could be heading back to Disney.

According to Deadline, Murphy is set to leave Netflix at the end of his five-year overall deal, which was understood to be worth around $300M. The move will reunite him with Dana Walden, who is now Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment.  Murphy and Walden previously worked together when Walden headed what was then 20th Century Fox TV and Murphy had a deal there.

Murphy is the producer behind popular hits including Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, 911 and American Horror Story.  Upcoming FX shows include Feud: Capote’s Women and American Sports Story, which will tell the story of NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez.

If Murphy returns to Disney, it will also reunite him with FX boss John Landgraf, who greenlit his series such as American Horror Story and its spinoffs as well as Feud and Pose.
