Filming on the next “Avatar” installment is set to resume very soon.
The news comes from “Avatar” star Sam Worthington, who plays Jake Sully in the franchise, who revealed the news in a new interview with People. The actor told the outlet that filming will resume again next month and the third film is “bigger than you can imagine.” You can read what Worthington said below:
“We go back to work on it in a month and it’s big,” Worthington tells PEOPLE of the next installment in the fantasy franchise. “It’s bigger than you can imagine.”
The third film is directed by James Cameron and will also star Zoe Saldaña and Kate Winslet. Plot details on the next project have not been revealed but Cameron said earlier last year that the next film would use fire as “a symbolic purpose in the film and there’s a culture that is specifically around that concept.”
Some filming on both the third and fourth films was shot during filming for the 2022 second installment titled “Avatar: The Way of Water.”
“Avatar 3” is due to release in theaters on December 19, 2025, “Avatar 4” is slated for December 21, 2029, and the fifth and final film will arrive on December 19, 2031.
