Searchlight Pictures’ ‘Chevalier’ Disney+ Release Date Announced (Canada)

Disney has announced that Searchlight Pictures’ “Chevalier” will be coming to Disney+ in Canada on Friday, June 16, 2023, the same day the film will release on Hulu in the United States.

Inspired by the incredible true story of composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges. The illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner, Bologne (Kelvin Harrison Jr. in a tour de force performance) rises to improbable heights in French society as a celebrated violinist-composer and fencer, complete with an ill-fated love affair and a falling-out with Marie Antoinette (Lucy Boynton) and her court.

Cast for the film includes Minnie Driver, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Samara Weaving, Alex Fitzalan, and Lucy Boynton.

Stephen Williams (Watchmen) is directing from an original script by Stefani Robinson (Atlanta). Producers are Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe at Element Pictures; Stefani Robinson; and Dianne McGunigle. At Searchlight, overseeing are Director of Production Zahra Phillips and Creative Executive Cornelia Burleigh.
