Significant Delay Expected for ‘Andor’ Season 2

Earlier this year at Star Wars Celebration, Tony Gilroy, creator of “Andor”, announced they are currently filming season two and expect to wrap up production by August.

Gilroy also mentioned that, with everything on track, ‘Andor’ season 2 is set for an August 2024 release.

Andor Season 2 Delayed

Disney+ UK recently revealed some of the exclusive originals slated for 2024 on Disney+. This list included two new live-action Star Wars series, “Star Wars: The Acolyte” and “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew”. Notably absent from this lineup was “Andor”, hinting at a possible delay for the series.

It was previously reported that the second season of “Andor” was only weeks away from completing filming but had to temporarily halt production due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Additionally, Gizmodo reports that the second season of “Andor” will be delayed until 2025, attributing the delay to the Hollywood strikes and the scheduling of the other two live-action series occupying a significant part of the year.

Disney CEO Bob Iger has emphasized Disney’s commitment to producing less but higher quality content, making this delay consistent with the company’s current strategy.

Disney frequently adjusts their release schedule for shows, so a 2024 release for “Andor” cannot be completely ruled out. However, it does seem increasingly likely that the release will be pushed to 2025.
