Disney recently published an advert on ShopDisney which showcased a number of movies on Disney+ such as “Avengers: Endgame”, “Black Panther”, “Ant-Man and the Wasp” and “Spider-Man: Far From Home”.
While the majority of Marvel movies are available on Disney+, there are a select few including Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movies which are not available. This is due to Sony owning the distribution rights for “Homecoming” and “Far From Home”.
The ad has lead fans to speculate that Disney and Sony have come to an agreement to bring “Spider-Man: Far From Home” to Disney+. At the moment, Sony and Starz have a streaming deal that brings Sony’s live-action movies to Starz until 2021.
It seems likely that this was an honest mistake as the advert has now changed from “Spider-Man: Far From Home” to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. It has long been rumored that Disney is trying to work out a deal with Sony, but as it stands, this is purely a rumor.
