Disney/Imagine/Free Association’s “Splash” remake is reportedly moving forward.
The original 1984 film, which starred Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah, was about a successful businessman who falls in love with the girl of his dreams. There’s one big complication though; he’s fallen hook, line and sinker for a mermaid.
A remake of the film was first reported in 2016 with Jillian Bell attached to star (Workaholics, 22 Jump Street) however, it was consistently delayed.
A new script will now be written by the writer of the Netflix movie Sleepover, Sarah Rothschild. Marja-Lewis Ryan wrote an earlier draft of the” Splash” remake.
The original “Splash” movie is available to stream now on DIsney+.
