Here is a look at all of the “Star Originals” that are coming to Disney+ in August which includes the premiere of the thriller film “Prey.”
New episodes also continue to roll out for Season 2 of “Only Murders In The Building,” “The Orville: New Horizons” season finale releases, and more.
Keep in mind that certain “Star Originals” are only available in select regions. Most of these shows are generally available on Hulu in the United States.

Only Murders In The Building – Season 2
Following the shocking death of Arconia Board President Bunny Folger, Charles, Oliver & Mabel race to unmask her killer. However, three (unfortunate) complications ensue – the trio is publicly implicated in Bunny’s homicide, they are now the subjects of a competing podcast, and they have to deal with a bunch of New York neighbors who all think they committed murder.
New episodes debut on August 2 and 9 with the season finale releasing on August 16.
Solar Opposites – Season 3
Co-created by Justin Roiland (“Rick & Morty”) and Mike McMahan (“Rick & Morty”, “Star Trek: Lower Decks”), “Solar Opposites” centers around a team of four aliens who are evenly split on whether Earth is awful or awesome. Korvo (Justin Roiland) and Yumyulack (Sean Giambrone) only see the pollution, crass consumerism, and human frailty while Terry (Thomas Middleditch) and Jesse (Mary Mack) love TV, junk food and fun stuff. In season three, this alien team strives to be less of a team and more of a family team.
New episodes release on August 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31.
Big Sky – Season 2 (UK/IRE)
“Big Sky” Season 2 follows private detectives Cassie Dewell and Jenny Hoyt as they reunite to investigate a car wreck outside of Helena, Montana, and they soon discover that the case may not be as straightforward as it seems. As they unravel the mystery of the accident, their worlds will collide with a band of unsuspecting teens, a flirtatious face from Jenny’s past, and a vicious outsider hellbent on finding answers.
New episodes release on August 3 and 10.
The Orville: New Horizons – (UK/IRE/Canada)
Seth MacFarlane’s epic space adventure series “The Orville” returns for its third season and finds the crew of the U.S.S. Orville continues their mission of exploration, as they navigate both the mysteries of the universe and the complexities of their own interpersonal relationships.
The season finale episode releases on August 4.
Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, “Prey” is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.
“Prey” is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, written by Patrick Aison (“Jack Ryan,” “Treadstone”), and produced by John Davis (“Jungle Cruise,” “The Predator”) and Jhane Myers (“Monsters of God”), with Lawrence Gordon (“Watchmen”), Marty Ewing (“It: Chapter Two”), James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas and Marc Toberoff (“Fantasy Island”) serving as executive producers.
The film releases on August 5.
The Old Man – Season 1
Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Thomas Perry, “The Old Man” centers on “Dan Chase” (Jeff Bridges), who absconded from the CIA decades ago and has been living off the grid since. When an assassin arrives and tries to take Chase out, the old operative learns that to ensure his future he now must reconcile his past.
New episodes release in Australia and New Zealand on August 3 and 10.
Season 1 releases in Canada on August 17.
American Horror Stories – Season 2 (AUS, NZ, Canada)
“American Horror Stories” is a spinoff of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s award-winning hit anthology series “American Horror Story.” “American Horror Stories” is a weekly anthology series that will feature a different horror story each episode. Since 2011, the creators of “AHS” have redefined the horror genre with various installments featuring a creepy asylum, a coven of witches, a traveling freak show, a haunted hotel and the apocalypse itself. The television series sprouted a legion of dedicated fans who anticipate what terrors the next chapter will hold.
Season 2 begins streaming in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand on August 31.
Mike (AUS,NZ, Canada)
From creator/screenwriter Steven Rogers and the team behind I, Tonya and showrunner Karin Gist (Our Kind of People) comes MIKE. The 8 part limited series tells the story of the dynamic and controversial life of boxing icon Mike Tyson, starring Trevante Rhodes.
Harvey Keitel, Laura Harrier, Grace Zabriskie, Olunike Adeliyi and TJ Atoms also star.
“Mike” will release on Disney+ in Canada, Australia and New Zealand on Thursday, August 25, 2022.
