‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ Disney+ Series to Begin Filming in February

Disney+’s new live-action Star Wars series “The Acolyte” will reportedly begin production in February of next year.  The series will likely use ‘The Volume’ at Pinewood Studios in London. This is the same technology that was used for the first 2 seasons of The Mandalorian and is currently being used by director Peyton Reed to film Marvel’s upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

“The Acolyte” has been described as a female-driven, action mystery thriller, with martial art elements that will take us into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging Dark Side powers in the final days of the High Republic Era.  The series will reportedly take place in a different part of the Star Wars timeline than other projects.

Casting for the series is already underway as Lucasfilm is currently looking for a young woman of color for the lead role.

Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) is serving as the show’s showrunner.
