Steven Yeun (Minari) has reportedly joined Marvel Studios’ upcoming “Thunderbolts” film in an undisclosed key role. The movie is set to release in theaters on July 26, 2024.
Deadline reports the role is not only significant to this film but could be a major role going forward in future films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Plot details for the film are under wraps however it revolves around a group of villains who are sent on missions commissioned by the government.
Cast previously announced for “Thunderbolts” includes David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S.Agent, Florence Pugh reprising her role as Yelena Belova and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.
Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) recently joined the cast in an undisclosed role.
Harrison Ford is also expected to reprise his role as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross from Captain America: New World Order.
Ryan Gosling or Alexander Skarsgård have been rumored to play a villain in the film however nothing has been confirmed.
Jake Schreier has been tapped as director, Eric Pearson (Black Widow) is penning the script with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige producing.
“Thunderbolts” hits theaters on July 26, 2024.
Yeun’s credits include The Walking Dead, A24’s Minari which led to his first Oscar nomination and Jordan Peele’s Nope.
