Sydney Chandler has been confirmed as one of the leading actors in Noah Hawley’s FX series, Alien.
Chandler returns to FX with Alien, as the actress previously made her TV debut on the network’s show Pistol, directed and executive produced by Danny Boyle.
The series will be the first Alien story set on Earth and will blend the horror of the original 1979 movie and the action of the 1986 James Cameron-directed sequel, Aliens. The “Alien” series will take place before Weaver’s Ripley character appears, and she will not be part of the show, as will none of the characters apart from the alien itself.
FX’s upcoming “Alien” TV series will begin shooting this year.
The news was by FX Boss John Landgraf at the Winter 2023 Television Critics Association Press Tour. You can see what Landgraf said below:
Noah is currently in production on the fifth season of Fargo but he’s in active preproduction on Alien, he’s written scripts… I think he’s meeting with his production designer in Austin this weekend, gearing up for production this year after he completes the fifth season of Fargo.”
The project was first announced during Disney’s Investor Day presentation in 2020. It will be the first television series based on one of the greatest science fiction horror classics ever made: “Alien.”
Disney is also working on a new “Alien” film starring Cailee Spaeny (“Mare of Easttown”), which started production in Budapest on March 9. In this ninth entry in the immensely popular and enduring film series, a group of young people on a distant world find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe.
The series will release on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ internationally under the Star banner.
A release date has not been announced yet.
