‘Ted Lasso’s Cristo Fernández Joins Disney+ Film ‘Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day’

Cristo Fernández (Ted Lasso) has joined the cast of the upcoming Disney+ Original movie “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.”

The feature will be a Latino-centric adaptation of the best-selling children’s book by Judith Viorst.

Previously announced cast includes Eva Longoria, Jesse Garcia (Flamin’ Hot), Paulina Chávez (The Expanding Universe of Ashley GarciaFate: The Winx Saga), Rose Portillo (Zoot SuitThe Exorcist II), Cheech Marin (Shotgun WeddingChampions), and Thom Nemer (Snowfall) is set to star as the titular character.

Alexander tells the story of 11-year-old Alexander Garcia, who thinks he has the worst luck in the world. When his family sets off on a road trip to California, he’s pretty sure disaster awaits at every corner. His anxiety only increases when a family secret is revealed.

Longoria and Garcia play Alexander’s parents Val and Frank; Paulina Chávez plays his 16-year-old sister Mia; Rose Portillo plays his grandmother Lidia and Marin will play the patriarch of the Garcia family, a tough biker grandfather.

According to Deadline, Fernández will bring to life the character Chavo, a cook who meets the Garcias while the family is on a road trip. He bonds with Frank (Jesse Garcia), a fellow chef.

Marvin Lemus directs the script from Matt Lopez.

Production is currently underway in New Mexico.

A release date for Disney+ has not been announced yet.
