‘The Acolyte’ Disney+ Series Rumored Release Window Revealed

2021 was a great year for Star Wars fans with Star Wars: The Bad Batch kicking things off, followed by Star Wars: Visions, and finally The Book of Boba Fett.   2022  is set to be an even bigger year with confirmed releases of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, Andor, and Season 2 of The Bad Batch.

One of the titles that will reportedly release in 2023 is the live-action Star Wars series “The Acolyte.”

“The Acolyte” has been described as a female-driven, action mystery thriller, with martial art elements that will take us into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging Dark Side powers in the final days of the High Republic Era.  The series is said to take place in a different part of the Star Wars timeline than other projects.

According to a new report from Bespin Bulletin, we could see “The Acolyte” arrive on Disney+ in the Summer of 2023.  According to the outlet: Ahsoka, is rumored to release during the Spring of 2023 and The Acolyte a few months later.

Since nothing has been confirmed by Lucasfilm or Disney, we will treat this as a rumor for now.

Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) is serving as the show’s showrunner and directing the series, though it’s unknown if she will direct every episode.

Not much else has been revealed about the series however The Illuminerdi has discovered some new information about who might be taking on the lead role.  We already knew that Lucasfilm was looking to cast a woman of color in her late teens to early twenties to reportedly play the lead character “Aura.”  The outlet claims that according to their sources, Lucasfilm Ltd. is in talks with Amandla Stenberg to take on the lead role in the mysterious new Star Wars Disney Plus series, The Acolyte.

The TV series will reportedly begin filming in February 2022.  Stay tuned to Disney Plus Informer for any updates to this story as they become available.
