Of all the major studios that put out trailers during last week’s Super Bowl, it stands to reason that Marvel’s next Disney+ project would gather the most attention. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, due for release in early March had fans tuning in to get a glimpse of what’s to come for their returning heroes.
The series follows Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan and Daniel Bruhl in returning roles and is the second Disney+ series to come from the newly expanded Marvel Cinematic Universe. The new trailer drew 125 million views from its TV spot and trailer combined in the 24 hours following the big game.
That figure is not only the highest for a streaming series trailer, it smashes a number of other trailer viewing titles as well. WandaVision’s trailer saw 53m in the following 24 hours after its debut at last year’s Prime Time Emmys (the previous record-holder for a streaming series). Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s 24 hour views also bested that of Black Widow (119m) and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (111m). The high-volume online traffic continued, with the highest Google Search volume amongst all entertainment offerings.
What did you think of the trailer? Were you one of the people who went straight online to see it? Are you looking forward to the series when it starts in March? Let us know in the comments.
