The Mandalorian Cost $462K Per Minute To Produce

Disney is reportedly spending $100 million for the first season of The Mandalorian. That’s $12.5 million per episode.

As this is truly a staggering amount, for a tv show at the very least; we thought it would be interesting to break down the numbers a little further.

The Mandalorian Chapter 2 is approximately 27 minutes long once you’ve taken out the recap, credits etc. We’re looking at $12.5 million per episode which puts the show at $462,962 per minute. That’s more than $7,716 per second!

The series cost “around $100 million” to produce, Disney CEO Bob Iger said during the Vanity Fair Summit.

But it’s still less expensive than the DisneyMarvel shows that are in development. “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” “WandaVision,” and “Hawkeye” each cost $25 million an episode, according to THR. Variety had previously reported that the shows would be six to eight episodes long, so each series could cost between $150 million and $200 million.

Disney is projecting a 2020 original programming budget “short of $1 billion,” according to THR.
