Will There Be A Season 4 of The Mandalorian?
Official Renewal Status: Renewed
Yes! Jon Favreau, the show’s creator, confirmed that The Mandalorian will return for a fourth season and even revealed that he has finished writing the new season.
The news was shared by Favreau in an interview with BFMTV Inside. You can see what Favreau said below:
How well was The Mandalorian Season 3 received?
Let’s break down the review scores for the show thus far (correct as of April 18th, 2023):
- IMDb User Score: 7.5
- RottenTomatoes Critics Score: 87% (season 1 was 93%)
- RottenTomatoes Audience Score: 50%
- Metacritic: 70/100
While the show has stumbled with some viewers, Disney isn’t planning on slowing down with stories from the world of The Mandalorian anytime soon.
When Will The Mandalorian Season 4 Be Released on Disney+?
Disney hasn’t confirmed an official release date for The Mandalorian season 4, but we’re expecting it to debut in late 2024 or 2025.
There was an over two-year gap between The Mandalorian season two and season three, although we did get The Book of Boba Fett slotted in between.
We know that Dave Filoni’s Ahsoka series, set to debut in August 2023, is closely connected to the overall “Mandoverse”. Having another show in between will likely mean a longer wait for the fourth season, as seen previously.
There hasn’t been any word that the fourth season has begun filming yet. So based on past timelines, it is likely that The Mandalorian season 4 will be released in fall 2024, or possibly even 2025.
While we’re not expecting an official release date announcement anytime soon, we will update this article whenever that happens.
What to Expect from The Mandalorian Season 4
The third season of The Mandalorian came to an end with Din Djarin successfully escaping the clutches of Moff Gideon, and with the help of from the Mandalorians, retaking Mandalore.
Although Moff Gideon appeared to have perished in the fallen flagship’s explosion, his potential return remains unclear.
Following these events, Din officially adopted Grogu and retired to his homestead on Nevarro, planning to undertake honorable missions for the New Republic under Captain Carson Terva.
It appears that Bo-Katan and her people will remain on Mandalore while Din embarks on new missions, likely against other members of the Shadow Council.
According to comments from Favreau, Ahsoka’s upcoming series will set up The Mandalorian season 4, which will be essential viewing for fans of the show leading up to Dave Filoni’s event film.
The Mandalorian Season 4 Cast: Who’ll be in it?
Pedro Pascal will definitely return as Din Djarin in The Mandalorian Season 4, along with Din Grogu.
As for the others, we don’t know. The season 3 finale was essentially a reset, meaning that it’s possible we could see many new characters to push the story forward.
That said, for now, it’s probably a safe bet to expect the following:
- Carl Weathers as Greef Karga
- Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze
- Emily Swallow as The Armorer
- Taika Waititi as IG-11
