60,000 union members will begin a nationwide strike against the major studios on Oct. 18 at 12:01 a.m. unless an agreement is reached. Union members are demanding better hours and working conditions. If the strike takes place, production would be halted on film and TV series across the United States including “The Mandalorian” and “Secret Invasion.”
Star Wars Time reports that their sources indicate Lucasfilm is planning on at least a 90-day shutdown due to the strike. According to their report, the only thing that would prevent this work stoppage would be akin to an 11th hour type of miracle. It’s unclear if the strike would affect other Lucasfilm series that have already completed filming including Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor.
There are also rumors of Marvel projects having a similar situation which would affect the production of “Secret Invasion” which is currently filming. Again, if the strike affects post-productions including VFX departments and editors then this could possibly create a delay with other series including Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel.
Currently, this is just speculation of what could happen, and will just have to see how things play out.
Season 3 of “The Mandalorian” just started filming a few days ago and hopes are for a late 2022 release on Disney+. Marvel’s “Secret Invasion” series began filming last month and is expected to continue into December with a 2022 debut on Disney+.
