Back in 2020, “The Sandlot” director David Mickey Evans revealed that a new series based on the 1993 hit film The Sandlot was in development at Disney+ and would see the original cast return. According to a new report, the series is no longer moving forward at Disney+.
The news comes from a Q&A at TV Line which you can see below:
What’s the status of The Sandlot original cast reunion series that was announced for Disney+ way back in 2019? Is it even still happening? –Evan
It looks like it barely stepped up to the plate; sources tell me the Sandlot series is no longer in development.
In “The Sandlot,” when fifth-grader Scotty Smalls moves with his parents to a new town, he strikes out with the neighborhood kids, especially at baseball. But soon, Scotty embarks on a magical summer of first kisses, hilarious adventures and encounters with the scary “beast” behind the left field fence. Co-starring Karen Allen, Denis Leary and James Earl Jones, The Sandlot is major-league fun for the whole family!

“The Sandlot” is available to stream now in some countries including the United Kingdom and Canada.
