Thom Nemer (Snowfall) is set to star as the titular character in the new “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” film for Disney+. The feature will be a Latino-centric adaptation of the best-selling children’s book by Judith Viorst.
Previously announced cast includes Eva Longoria, George Lopez, Jesse Garcia (Flamin’ Hot), Paulina Chávez (The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia, Fate: The Winx Saga) and Rose Portillo (Zoot Suit, The Exorcist II).
Alexander tells the story of 11-year-old Alexander Garcia, who thinks he has the worst luck in the world. When his family sets off on a road trip to California, he’s pretty sure disaster awaits at every corner. His anxiety only increases when a family secret is revealed.
Longoria and Garcia play Alexander’s parents Val and Frank; Paulina Chávez plays his 16-year-old sister Mia; Rose Portillo plays his grandmother Lidia.
Marvin Lemus directs the script from Matt Lopez.
Filming is slated to begin this spring in New Mexico.
Nemer is best known for portraying Carlo in the FX series Snowfall.
A release date for Disney+ has not been announced yet.
