Earlier this week, it was rumored that WandaVision director Matt Shakman had signed on to direct Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four, hitting theaters on November 8, 2024. Now Deadline has confirmed that “Shakman is in early talks to direct Marvel’s new Fantastic Four pic.” If Shakman signs on, he will step in for Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts who left the project in April 2022.
Not much is known about the “Fantastic Four” reboot except characters Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (Human Torch) and Ben Grimm (The Thing) will return.
Moon Knight producers Grant Curtis and Nick Pepin will also serve as producers on the new “Fantastic Four” film.
It’s believed that Disney will announce the cast and director of the “Fantastic Four” reboot at the D23 Expo 2022 which takes place September 9-11 in Anaheim, California.
Shakman’s additional credits include directing episodes of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Fargo, Game of Thrones, and Succession.
