Last night, many fans were disappointed that a trailer was not released during the Super Bowl for Marvel’s upcoming film “The Marvels” which hits theaters on July 28, 2023. Deadline had previously reported that a trailer for the film was likely to debut during the Big Game, however, only trailers for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” were released.
So when can we expect a trailer for “The Marvels?” ScreenRant predicts the first trailer will likely be released in April. The prediction was made based on when the trailer was released for Thor: Love & Thunder and noting Disney is currently vested in promoting Marvel’s two upcoming films, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (Feb. 17) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 5).
“The Marvels” will see the return of Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel and will also feature appearances from Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Zawe Ashton in a currently unknown role, as well as WandaVision star Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau. Marvel also recently confirmed that Korean actor Park Seo-Joon (Parasite) has joined the cast.
The film is directed by Candyman‘s Nia DaCosta on a script written by Megan McDonnell.
Recently, two additional writers have been revealed for the Captain Marvel sequel. Elissa Karasik (Loki) and Zeb Wells (Robot Chicken) were added as additional writers, joining DaCosta and McDonnell. Karasik wrote all six episodes of Disney+’s Loki. Wells is best known as a writer for Marvel Comics and has worked on several Spider-Man stories. Wells has also worked on the animated comedy series Robot Chicken and served as a writer for one episode of Disney+’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
“The Marvels” will open in theaters on July 28, 2023, and is part of Phase 5 of the MCU.
