When is ‘Elf’ Coming To Disney Plus?


There is no question that Elf is beloved holiday classic that is enjoyed by millions each year. There’s a whole heap of Christmas movies available on Disney Plus and many are hoping that ‘Elf’ will come to the streaming service this holiday season. After all, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

What is ‘Elf’ about?

On Christmas Eve, a baby boy at an orphanage crawls into Santa Claus’s sack, and is unwittingly transported back to the North Pole. When the baby is discovered at the workshop, the elves name him Buddy after the brand label on his diaper, and Papa Elf adopts and raises him. Buddy grows up at the North Pole, believing he is an elf and accepted by the elf community, but due to his human size, he is unable to keep up with the other elves and demoted to the demeaning job of toy testing. Soon, Buddy overhears that he is a human, and Papa Elf explains that Buddy was born to Walter Hobbs and Susan Wells and given up for adoption. Susan subsequently died, and Walter, who now works as a children’s book publisher at the Empire State Building in New York City, is unaware of Buddy’s existence. To Buddy’s horror, Santa reveals that Walter is on the naughty list due to his selfish and unscrupulous demeanor, but suggests Buddy could help redeem him.

Can you stream ‘Elf’ on Disney Plus?

As it stands, “Elf” is not available on Disney+ in any country. As of writing, Disney hasn’t announced if, or when, the TV show might be added to the service.

Disney doesn’t typically share their plans on when a specific title will be added to the streaming service. New content is usually announced during the middle of the month for the following month. This gives us our best indication on what’s coming to Disney+ in the near future.

When is Elf Coming To Disney Plus?

It’s very unlikely that ‘Elf’ will ever be available to stream on Disney Plus. ‘Elf’ isn’t a Disney movie and is a ‘Guy Walks Into a Bar Productions’ and distributed by New Line Cinema, which is owned by Warner Bros. However, the movie oftentimes appears on the Disney-owned television network, Freeform, during the holiday season.

Unless Disney strikes up a deal to stream the movie, which seems very unlikely, don’t expect ‘Elf’ to come to Disney+ anytime soon. In fact, it’s rare to ever see ‘Elf’ on any streaming service.
