The Little Mermaid Live-Action DVD & Blu-Ray Release Date

As of now, Disney has not provided any official updates regarding the availability of The Little Mermaid on physical media formats like DVD, Blu-ray, or Ultra HD. However, we can make informed guess by examining the release patterns of similar films.

Drawing from the timeline it took for Black Panther 2 and Ant-Man 3, both of which took approximately three months to transition to DVD and Blu-ray, we can anticipate a similar time frame for The Little Mermaid 2023 edition. Based on this estimate, we can expect to see it on DVD and Blu-ray towards the end of August, or early September at the latest.

UPDATE 7/6/23 – Disney’s The Little Mermaid arrives on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on September 19, 2023.

The Little Mermaid 2023 Digital Release Date

Disney has not yet made an official announcement about the availability of The Little Mermaid on digital platforms such as Prime Video, Apple TV, Vudu, Movies Anywhere, Amazon, Google Play, and others.

There was a 60-day gap between the theatrical release of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and its availability on digital platforms.

If The Little Mermaid follows a similar timeline, we can anticipate the film being accessible from digital retailers towards the middle to end of July.

UPDATE 7/6/23 – Disney’s live-action “The Little Mermaid” remake will arrive on digital platforms, including Amazon, Apple and Google, in the United States on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.

What is The Little Mermaid About?

“The Little Mermaid” is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.

The film stars singer and actress Halle Bailey (“grown-ish”) as Ariel; Tony Award® winner Daveed Diggs (“Hamilton,” “Snowpiercer”) as the voice of Sebastian; Jacob Tremblay (“Luca,” “Room”) as the voice of Flounder; Awkwafina (“Raya and the Last Dragon”) as the voice of Scuttle; Jonah Hauer-King (“A Dog’s Way Home”) as Prince Eric; Art Malik (“Homeland”) as Sir Grimsby; Noma Dumezweni (“Mary Poppins Returns”) as Queen Selina; with Oscar® winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men,” “Being the Ricardos”) as King Triton; and two-time Academy Award® nominee Melissa McCarthy (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?” “Bridesmaids”) as Ursula.

  1. When this live action version of little mermaid is released in uk on dvd, I’ll make a definite purchase and watch it once or twice. If released as a bluray dvd combi I’ll purchase that and only watch on bluray. If not combi release then I’ll acquire the bluray version when in the sales.
Imo best Disney film so far.
