Filming is currently underway for the upcoming Disney+ Original series “National Treasure.” The live-action series is an expansion of the “National Treasure” movie franchise. But when exactly is the “National Treasure” series coming to Disney Plus? Read on for everything we know so far!
National Treasure Series Release Date
Disney hasn’t announced a release date for the upcoming Disney+ Original Series “National Treasure”. We do know that filming is currently underway, and given the scope and scale of the movies, the TV series is likely to be a large production. Even though we don’t have a release date just yet, we can certainly make an educated guess based on previous Disney+ shows.
It’s believed that filming begun in early 2022, and it typically takes Disney about a year or so from pre-production to an official release. Depending on when the series wraps, which should be soon, we expect to see the “National Treasure” series be released in fall 2022 or early 2023.
We’ll be sure to update this article the moment we hear some official news on a National Treasure release date.
UPDATE: Disney has confirmed that ‘National Treasure: Edge of History’ will be coming to Disney+ on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, with the first two episodes. New episodes will release weekly after.
What Do We Know About The National Treasure Series
The series is centered on a young heroine, Jess (Lisette Alexis), a brilliant and resourceful DREAMer who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about her family’s mysterious past and save a lost Pan-American treasure.
Jerry Bruckheimer, Cormac & Marianne Wibberley, Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed executive produce the series alongside Rick Muirragui, who also serves as a writer. Jon Turteltaub is also an executive producer. Mira Nair is directing and executive producing.

National Treasure Guest Star
It was also recently announced that actor Justin Bartha is returning to guest star and reprise the character of Riley Poole from the hit “National Treasure” franchise.
As previously announced, the series also stars multiple award-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones (“Ocean’s Twelve”) as Billie, a badass billionaire, black-market antiquities expert and treasure hunter who lives by her own code; Zuri Reed (“Flatbush Misdemeanors”) as Tasha, Jess’ ride-or-die friend who joins the treasure hunt but is forced to reevaluate her belief system to help her best friend; Jordan Rodrigues (“Lady Bird”) as Ethan, Jess’ childhood best friend who has loved her since the day they met; Antonio Cipriano (“Jagged Little Pill” on Broadway) as Oren, a loveable but self-obsessed goofball with an encyclopedic knowledge of conspiracy theories that attempts to win back Tasha’s affections; Jake Austin Walker (“Rectify”) as Liam, a swoon-worthy struggling musician, with a permanent chip on his shoulder, who comes from a long line of treasure hunters. Disney has finally confirmed that name of the upcoming series is “National Treasure: Edge of History.” Disney will also be holding a panel for the series at San Diego Comic-Con later in July. You can read more details here.
