Is ‘Tomorrowland’ On Disney Plus?
Tomorrowland isn’t available to stream on Disney+ in the United States as it was pulled from the service back in October 2021. The movie does remain available on Disney+ in all other countries.
Why Isn’t ‘Tomorrowland’ on Disney Plus?
Tomorrowland is not currently available on Disney+ due to pre-existing agreements with other streaming services.
Disney has established partnerships with several platforms, including Netflix, HBO, and Starz, to distribute their content. Prior to the launch of Disney+ in 2019, the company did not have a dedicated streaming platform for their films. As a result, they relied on these partnerships to distribute their movies to audiences.
Even though Disney doesn’t need to license out their content anymore thanks to Disney+, these agreements remain in place until they expire or are bought out.
While Disney has purchased the rights to some films, such as Marvel movies, they have not done so for others, such as for Tomorrowland.
Therefore, the movie is expected to return to Disney+ once the contractual agreements made before The Walt Disney Company’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox come to an end.
When Will ‘Tomorrowland’ On Disney Plus?
Officially, Disney hasn’t announced when Tomorrowland will be streaming again on Disney+ in the United States. Disney doesn’t typically announce when a specific title will be coming or returning to Disney+ more than a few weeks in advance.
We expect to see Maleficent return to Disney+ towards the end of 2023 at the earliest, with 2024 being a possibility.
